About your book

What is Inkling and how does it work?

You add a few photos and (optionally) an idea; our AI writes a personalized story and illustrates every page with your child as the hero, keeping characters consistent throughout. You can read it on screen, share it, and order it as a printed booklet or hardcover keepsake.

Will the characters actually look like my child?

We use your photos to create a stylized, illustrated likeness — not a photo. It captures the resemblance in the art style you choose. Likeness varies and you can regenerate any illustration you're not happy with.

Can I edit the story or redo an illustration?

Yes — you can edit the text on any page, restyle the book, and regenerate individual illustrations or the whole book.

Can I include siblings, family, or pets?

Yes — you can build a reusable cast of characters (and elements like a family pet) and bring them into the story.

What languages are supported?

You can create and translate books into many languages.

Privacy

What happens to the photos I upload? Can I delete them?

They're used only to generate your book — never to train AI or for ads. You can delete your photos and books anytime, and we auto-delete uploads within 90 days of your last activity on a book. See our Privacy Policy.

Do I need permission to upload a photo of my child or someone else?

Yes — you confirm you're the parent/guardian or have the person's permission for every photo you upload.

Formats & pricing

What does it cost?

You pay as you go with credits. A finished book is roughly: eBook about $3, printed booklet about $21, hardcover about $45, both including US shipping. Longer books cost a little more per page. Your first book is free to make.

What exactly is a “credit”?

A credit is one cent — so 100 credits = $1, and you buy them in bundles. Credits pay for generating pictures and text. Your first book doesn’t use credits at all — it’s free to create and read, and we simply don’t charge for it. Printing and shipping are quoted separately in real dollars, and you always see the exact total before you confirm an order.

What formats are there?

A digital eBook, a printed softcover booklet, and a premium hardcover keepsake.

How long until I get my printed book?

Usually about 8–15 business days total (production + shipping) for standard US delivery. See Shipping.

Can I get a refund?

Digital books are non-refundable once made; printed books can be cancelled for a full refund before they print, and we reprint or refund any defect/print error free within 14 days. See Refunds.

Is it a good gift?

It's the most personal gift there is — and you can send Inkling credits to someone else, too.
